Easy D.I.Y

I'm a huge coat and jacket lover, I believe they can either make or break an outfit. I'm not a fan of big bulky jackets I prefer more lightweight transitional jackets.

I recently purchased this utility style jacket from forever21.com and when it arrived I fell in love with the style of the jacket but the fur was just tragic.

Now I love fur and I mean I really love fur. I prefer faux fur only because the thought of wearing real fur creeps me out a little, but since the fur on this jacket left a little bit more to be desired I had to do something to revamp it.

This simple D.I.Y requires a few things:

1. Scissors
2. Needle & thread
3. Loose Buttons
4. Thin fabric elastic
5. Fur collar

* I purchased my fur collar on eBay it came with with elastic loops already sewn in and a loose button kit, I know some people are iffy about shopping on eBay so you can also purchase faux fur from your local fabric store

Remove fur from hood by cutting along the edge. I cut extremly close because I wanted no evidence of the original fur plus it gives it a cleaner look.

Once fur is removed sew buttons in place  make sure to line up the fur collar so each button is sewn in the correct place

Attach fur collar to the hood. Loop the elastic around the buttons sewed onto the hood.

Finished product. Now this is a fur collar
I'm completely in love. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial Let me know in the comment section if you give this revamp a try. Until next time.
